Indiana, Michigan and Ohio State Earn Weekly Men's Soccer Honors

Big Ten Men's Soccer Weekly Release

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Indiana's Will Bruin, Michigan's Soony Saad and Ohio State's Matt Lampson have been named the Big Ten men's soccer Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. Bruin and Saad take home Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Lampson earns Defensive Player of the Week laurels.

Indiana's Will Bruin earns his second Big Ten weekly honor of the season after leading the Hoosiers to a win over No. 20 Penn State in their first conference contest of 2010. Bruin scored with 11 seconds left in regulation to break a 2-2 tie and give Indiana the win. The goal was his sixth of the season, good for third in the conference, and his first game-winning goal of 2010.

Michigan's Soony Saad earns Co-Offensive Player of the Week laurels after posting a hat trick against Kentucky on Wednesday. The freshman tallied one goal each in the first and second halves before delivering the game-winner in overtime. Saad also contributed nine shots in Michigan's 1-0 loss to No. 23 Ohio State on Saturday. He is currently the Big Ten leader in shots (68) and is second in the conference in goals (7) through the Wolverines' first nine games.

Ohio State's Matt Lampson receives the nod for Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season after posting back-to-back shutouts against eighth-ranked Louisville on Wednesday and Big Ten opponent Michigan on Saturday. Lampson notched three saves against Louisville, helping the 23rd-ranked Buckeyes earn the scoreless draw on the road. The sophomore then racked up 11 saves to keep Michigan out of the net and push Ohio State to the 1-0 win in its conference opener. Lampson leads the Big Ten in goals-against average (0.49) and shutouts (5) and is tied for second in saves (38).
