Ohio State and Wisconsin Receive Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Ohio State's Austin McAnena and Wisconsin's Ryan Vint have been named the Big Ten men's soccer Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. McAnena receives the nod for Offensive Player of the Week, while Vint earns Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Offensive Player of the Week
Austin McAnena earns Offensive Player of the Week accolades after recording a goal in No. 19 Ohio State's 2-2 draw with top-ranked Akron on Wednesday and the Buckeyes' 2-1 win over No. 11 Michigan State on Sunday. McAnena's goal against Akron in the first half snapped the Zips' 1,140-minute shutout streak, dating back to Nov. 15, 2009. The sophomore also netted the game-winning goal against Michigan State, helping the Buckeyes end the Spartans' six-game winning streak and start the conference season at 2-0-0.

Defensive Player of the Week
Wisconsin's Ryan Vint takes home Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career after recording 11 saves in the Badgers' Big Ten opener against Indiana on Sunday. The 11-save performance marks a career high for the senior. In eight games in net this season for the Badgers, Vint holds a 1.03 goals-against average.
