Michigan forward Jake Stacy took home National Player of the Week honors as selected by the NSCAA on Wednesday. This award marks the first national accolade for Big Ten men’s soccer this season. Stacy guided Michigan through one of its best weeks in program history as the Wolverines knocked off two nationally ranked opponents. Last Wednesday against No. 8 Notre Dame, Stacy netted the game’s third goal to put his team up, 2-1, midway through the first half as Michigan eventually won the contest, 3-1. In Sunday’s matchup versus Big Ten powerhouse No. 20 Indiana, the senior recorded the game’s only score within the first few minutes of play securing the 1-0 upset. Michigan defeated two ranked opponents in back-to-back games for the fist time in school history. Last week also marked the first ever wins for Michigan against either Notre Dame or Indiana. The Wolverines currently sit at No. 24 in the NSCAA/adidas poll.
