Sophomore forward Jason Wright has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Player of the Week.
Wright scored four goals, including a hat trick against Yale and a golden goal at Michigan, as the Rutgers men’s soccer team went 2-0 last week.
Against Yale in nonconference action last Tuesday night, Wright became the first Scarlet Knight to score three goals in a contest since 2013. He gave Rutgers a 2-0 lead by the 26th minute of play and recorded his third goal in the 75th minute to round out scoring.
Last Saturday against Michigan, Wright notched the golden goal. He found the back of the Wolverine net in the 93rd minute after the two teams played to a 0-0 stalemate at the end of regulation. It was his third game-winner of the season.
