The 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Teams were released on Thursday with four Big Ten student-athletes garnering recognition on the first and second teams.
The award recognizes top student-athletes in the nation for their athletic and academic performances, and is divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. In order to be recognized, the student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director. Student-athletes that are recognized as first-team honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where the first, second and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
