Michigan and Ohio State Reel in Men's Soccer Weekly Laurels

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference announced on Monday Michigan's Justin Meram and Ohio State's Matt Lampson as its men's soccer Players of the Week. Meram earns Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Lampson takes home his third Defensive Player of the Week accolade this season.
Offensive Player of the Week
Justin Meram recorded seven points across two matches for Michigan last week, helping the Wolverines to wins over Bowling Green and No. 23 Michigan State en route to his first weekly honor. Meram scored twice against the Falcons on Wednesday, leading Michigan to the 5-1 win. The senior scored his third goal of the week and eighth of the season against the Spartans on Saturday, adding an assist to help Michigan take the early 2-0 lead before winning a 3-2 decision in overtime.

Defensive Player of the Week
Ohio State goalkeeper Matt Lampson earns his third weekly honor of the season after notching back-to-back shutouts last week, leading the Buckeyes to wins over Oakland and Wisconsin. Lampson made four saves against Oakland on Wednesday, keeping the Golden Grizzlies out of the net in the Buckeyes' 2-0 win. He made six more stops against the Badgers on Sunday, earning his Big Ten-leading eighth shutout and pushing Ohio State to the 1-0 win. Lampson also leads the conference in goals-against average (0.72), saves (75) and save percentage (.862).
