Northwestern Clinches Big Ten Men's Soccer Championship

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – Northwestern has clinched the 2011 Big Ten Championship, it’s first in program history, after earning its fourth conference win of the season in a 1-0 victory on Saturday against Michigan. The Wildcats have gone undefeated in six Big Ten matches this season, posting a 4-0-2 record. The win also clinches the No. 1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament, which will be held on Nov. 9-13 in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Scoreless through 82 minutes, the Wildcats’ scored in the 83rd minute to earn the win over the Wolverines and the Big Ten title. Junior Chris Ritter scored his fourth goal of the season to lead Northwestern to victory.
