Michigan State Claims 2012 Men's Soccer Big Ten Tournament Championship
No. 5 Michigan State defeated No. 3 Michigan, 2-1, in overtime Sunday afternoon in Evanston, Ill, to claim the 2012 Men's Soccer Big Ten Tournament Championship. Adam Montague netted the first goal for the Spartans in the 38th minute from 22 yards out to give Michigan State a 1-0 lead. After back and forth play, T.J. Roehn nailed the equalizer for the Wolverines in the 87th minute to force overtime. Seven minutes into the extra frame, Sean Conerty found the back of the net to give the Spartans the win and their third Big Ten Tournament title.

Big Ten Tournament Championship Game is Underway
No. 3 Michigan and No. 5 Michigan State will face each other in the Big Ten Tournament Championship match today in Evanston, Ill., at Noon CT.
No. 5 Michigan State Tops No. 1 Penn State, 3-1
Fifth-seeded Michigan State took down No. 1 Penn State, 3-1, in the first semifinal match of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday. The Spartans move on to face either No. 2 Northwestern or No. 3 Michigan in Sunday's championship game at Noon CT. Adam Montague and Cody Henderson each recorded both a goal and an assist on the day, leading the Spartans offensive attack to its second three-goal game of the season. Jay Chapman notched the other goal for Michigan State, while Penn State's Minh Vu put the Nittany Lions on the board in the 87th minute.

Big Ten Semifinals Underway
Top-seeded Penn State and fifth-seeded Michigan State face off in today's first semifinal match in Evanston, Ill. at Noon CT.
Big Ten Tournament Continues Today
The Big Ten men's soccer tournament continues today in Evanston, Ill., with two semifinal matchups set for this afternoon. No. 1 Penn State will take on No. 5 Michigan State at Noon CT and No. 3 Michigan will face No. 2 Northwestern at approximately 2:30 p.m. CT.
No. 2 Northwestern Takes Down No. 7 Ohio State, 2-0
Second-seeded Northwestern defeated seven-seeded Ohio State, 2-0, in the tournament's final semifinal match on Wednesday. Kyle Schickel got the Wildcats on the board early as he netted the first goal in the sixth minute. Freshman Joey Calistri added the insurance goal five minutes later to give Northwestern a 2-0 lead and ultimately, the final score of the game. The Wildcats will face No. 3 Michigan on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT in the tournament semifinals.
No. 3 Michigan Defeats No. 6 Wisconsin, 1-0
Third-seeded Michigan edged No. 6 Wisconsin, 1-0, on Wednesday evening. The Wolverines will move on to face either No. 2 Northwestern or No. 7 Ohio State in the tournament semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CT. Freshman James Murphy scored the eventual game-winner in the 68th minute off of an assist from T.J. Roehn. Wolverine goalkeeper Adam Grinwis picked up his third shutout in the last four games and fifth of the season in the victory.
No. 5 Michigan State Edges No. 4 Indiana, 2-1
Fifth-seeded Michigan State narrowly defeated fourth-seeded Indiana, 2-1, in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament Wednesday afternoon. Spartan forward Adam Montague put Michigan State on the board early when he nailed a low, line-drive shot from 25 yards out in the fourth minute. Over halfway through the second half, Michigan State netted the insurance goal when Ryan Keener scored off of a Ryan Thelen corner kick in the 77th minute. The Hoosiers got on the scoreboard with 6:32 to play when Nikita Kotlov notched a tally to make the score 2-1. After a late Indiana rally, the Spartans were able to hold on and will face No. 1 seed Penn State at Noon CT in Friday's first semifinal matchup.

The Big Ten Men's Soccer Tournament begins today at 1 p.m. CT at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill. with No. 4 seed Indiana taking on No. 5 seed Michigan State. At approximately 3:30 p.m. CT, No. 3 Michigan will face No. 6 Wisconsin. Following that match, host and second-seeded Northwestern faces seventh-seeded Ohio Sate in Wednesday's final game, set for approximately 6 p.m. CT.
