Swimmer of the Week

Peter Vanderkaay, Michigan

Vanderkaay won every event he competed in and posted six NCAA consideration times as he helped the Wolverines stay unbeaten against Conference opponents with dual meet victories over Northwestern and Indiana last weekend.  Against the Wildcats, the junior won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle events in 44.41 and 1:36.42, respectively, and swam on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay (3:02.15).  The Rochester, Minn., native claimed four first place finishes to pace the Wolverines to a 158.5-141.5 win against Indiana.  Vanderkaay recorded wins in the 100-, 200- and 500-yard freestyle events and helped Michigan post its fastest time of the season in the 200-yard medley relay (1:28.77).

This is Vanderkaay's second weekly accolade of the season.

Diver of the Week

Marc Carlton, Indiana
SR, Webster, N.Y./Webster
Carlton claims Diver of the Week honors for the fourth time this season after picking up his 16th, 17th and 18th event titles of the year.  In a 157-83 win over Michigan State, the senior posted two zone qualifying marks with a third place finish on the 1-meter (305.32) and won the 3-meter board with a 359.95 point total.  The Webster, N.Y., native then swept the diving competition against Michigan with scores of 240.30 and 249.60 in the 1-meter and 3-meter events, respectively.
