Big Ten Announces Swimmer and Diver of the Week

The conference office announced on Tuesday the 15th weekly men’s swimming and diving honors for meets from Jan. 25-31. Michigan’s Chris Brady returns the weekly swimming honor to Ann Arbor for the fourth consecutive week while
Indiana’s David Piercy collects his first weekly diving award of the season. 

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Chris Brady, Michigan
Sr. - Wilmington, Del. - Mount Pleasant

Senior captain Chris Brady picked up two individual top finishes while aiding Michigan to two first-place showings in relays at the Big Ten quad meet against No. 9 Ohio State, Northwestern and Penn State. He also picked up two runner-up finishes on the relay front. Brady set a new season-best in his victory in the 50-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 20.16 to win the event. His other individual win came in the 100-yard butterfly where he just out-touched teammate Dan Madwed to win in 47.16. Brady led off the victorious 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:20.65) while swimming the butterfly leg of the 400-yard medley relay (3:14.00). He also swam on the second-place 400-yard freestyle relay (2:59.46) and 200-yard medley relay (1:29.12) teams. All six of Brady's times were NCAA 'B' marks.

Men’s Diver of the Week:
David Piercy, Indiana
Sr. - Fort Wayne, Ind. - Homestead

Senior David Piercy turned in a pair of NCAA qualifying marks to go along with two top finishes during Indiana’s dual meet at No. 16 Louisville Friday night. Piercy finished with a score of 321.45 in the one-meter competition, registering his fourth highest score of the season in the event. The Fort Wayne, Ind., native completed his sweep for the Hoosiers with a victory in the three-meter springboard, with mark of 332.24. This is the first weekly diving citation for Piercy and the first for a Hoosier diver this season.
