The conference office announced on Tuesday the final weekly men’s swimming and diving honors for the 2009-10 campaign. Ohio State’s Zach Holmes received Swimmer of the Week recognition after turning in three NCAA consideration marks at the Ohio State Winter Invitational over the weekend.

In the final tune-up before the Big Ten Championships, freshman Zach Holmes posted three top finishes in leading the Buckeyes in a meet that included swimmers from Michigan, Purdue and Indiana at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Houston, Texas native captured two individual wins, setting NCAA ‘B’ qualifying times in the 100 free (44.37) and 200 free (1:21.18) events. Holmes completed the first day of competition by leading off a winning ‘B’ cut time of 1:38.01 in the 200 free relay. This is the first weekly laurel for Holmes’ career and the second for a Buckeye swimmer this season.
