NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships Day 2 Recap

The Big Ten recorded 17 top-ten finishes on Friday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Through 14 events, Michigan sits at No. 5 with 199 points followed by No. 10 Indiana with 102 points. Ohio State sits in No. 11 (92), Penn State is No. 14 (56) and Wisconsin is No. 24 (18). Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota and Purdue have also received points at the championships. In the 400 individual medley, three Big Ten swimmers placed in the top-five on Friday. Michigan's Kyle Whitaker (3:41.37) placed second, Wisconsin's Michael Weiss (3:43.12) was third and Indiana's Samuel Trahin (3:44.37) finished fourth in the event. The Wolverines' Dan Madwed recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100 butterfly (45.91), while teammate Michael Wynalda finished sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:34.66). In the three-meter event, Indiana's Zach Nees (380.00) and Darian Schmidt (370.75) and Ohio State's Shane Miszkiel (364.55) placed sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively.
