Big Ten Medal of Honor: Dan Madwed, Michigan Men's Swimming & Diving
A 14-time NCAA All-American, Dan Madwed was the 2012 Big Ten Swimmer of the Year and the championship after claiming four Big Ten titles. He earned five All-America honors at the 2012 NCAA Championships to finish his career with 14 citations and seven honorable mention honors. Madwed won 14 Big Ten titles during his career and holds U-M, Big Ten and Big Ten Championship records in the 200 Fly. An industrial and operations engineering major, Madwed is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and was the 2011 U-M Bates/Deskins Award recipient as the junior student-athlete who excels in academics and athletics, and is an overall well-rounded individual. He is a USA Swimming National Team member and won the gold medal at the 2009 World Championships in the 800 freestyle.
