Silkaitis And Coben Grab Final Weekly Honors

Feb. 9, 2004

Swimmer of the Week
TERRY SILKAITIS, Jr., Minnesota
Skokie, IL/Evanston Township

Silkaitis recorded first-place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley and 200-yard freestyle while helping the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay to victory. The junior finished the 200-yard freestyle with a season-best and NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:37.62, which ranks in the top 20 nationally. Silkaitis' victory in the 200-yard individual medley was even more impressive because he does not usually compete in that event. Additionally, the 200-yard freestyle relay team's time of 1:20.25 hit the NCAA provisional time.

Diver of the Week
JASON COBEN, Sr., Michigan
Newtown Square, PA/Marple Newtown

Michigan's Jason Coben notched the final Diver of the Week honor to record back-to-back accolades for the 2003-04 season. Coben set the Big Ten record with his six dives score of 379.35 on the one-meter board, eclipsing the previous score of 376.35 set in 1999 by Indiana's Mike Collier. Coben also claimed first place on the three-meter board with a score of 362.93. Both scores were NCAA zone qualifying marks.
