Big Ten Names Men's Swimmers and Diver of the Week

The conference office announced on Tuesday the fourth weekly men's swimming and diving awards. Minnesota's Ivan Gutesa and Ohio State's Zach Holmes share Swimmer of the Week laurels while Wisconsin's Michael Ross earned Diver of the Week accolades.
Men's Co-Swimmer of the Week
Minnesota's Ivan Gutesa earns his first Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award after earning first-place finishes in every event he competed in this weekend against Wisconsin. In the 100 and 200 breaststroke, he touched the wall in 56.03 and 2:02.41, respectively, good for his first two victories during the dual. Gutesa then closed the day by teaming up with Nadav Kochavi, Kyle Van Swol and Michael Richards to clock a winning time of 1:30.96 in the 200 medley relay.

Zach Holmes - Ohio State
Ohio State's Zach Holmes brings home his first weekly award of the season, after claiming three wins in Ohio State's 180.5-75.5 season-opening victory over Kenyon last Saturday. The Buckeye sophomore captured top honors in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.95, then followed that performance with another winning effort in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 45.22 for the individual title. Holmes earned his third victory of the night in the 200 freestyle relay, as the team finished with a time of 1:22.21.

Men's Diver of the Week
Wisconsin's Michael Ross earns the third weekly honor of his career as he swept both diving events in the Badgers' meet against Minnesota last weekend. Against the Gophers, Ross won the 1-meter board with a score of 311.70, while his mark of 361.72 on the 3-meter board was good for another first-place finish. Ross has taken first place in all six events he has competed in this season.
