The conference office announced on Tuesday the fifth weekly men’s swimming and diving awards for meets through Nov. 9-16. Michigan’s Andre Schultz earned his first weekly swimming laurel of the season and Purdue’s David Colturi collected his second-consecutive Diver of the Week honor.
Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Andre Schultz, Michigan
Senior - Sao Paulo, Brazil - Colegio Palmares
Senior Andre Schultz led Michigan at the Minnesota Grand Prix over the weekend, winning one event while posting four runner-up finishes. Schultz won the 1,000 freestyle on the first day of competition, hitting the wall in 9:05.01. The senior then earned second-place honors in the 200-yard individual medley (1:46.83), 400-yard individual medley (3:49.66), 100-yard backstroke (48.45) and 200-yard backstroke (1:44.40). He was also part of the third-place finishing 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:01.75). On the weekend, Schultz recorded four individual NCAA consideration B marks, coming in his 200 and 400 individual medleys as well as his performances in the 100 and 200 back. The award marks the second for Schultz’s career and his first since Nov. 4, 2008.

Men’s Diver of the Week:
David Colturi, Purdue
Jr. - Sylvania, Ohio - St. John's Jesuit
Purdue junior David Colturi swept the diving events for the second consecutive meet while helping the Boilermakers defeat Eastern Michigan 223-100 last weekend. Colturi dominated the one-meter event, besting the competition by 71 points with his 358.20 score. He then followed that performance by posting a season-best total of 365.93 to better the three-meter field. Colturi remains unbeaten in all five attempts this season off the one-meter platform while garnering two wins in three tries off the three-meter board. This is the second weekly diving honor for Colturi in as many weeks and his fourth overall. The Sylvania, Ohio, native also collected a pair of weekly awards as a freshman during the 2007-08 season.
