Swimmer of the Week
John Schmitt, Purdue

Schmitt tallied two individual wins and swam on two first-place relays as the Boilermakers defeated Eastern Michigan, 239.5-108.5 last Saturday. Schmitt posted times of 44.51 and 1:38.75 in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles, respectively. He swam the third leg of the 200 freestyle relay with his squad touching the wall first in 1:22.42. The senior also anchored the winning 400 medley relay team as it clocked a 3:18.89. The Evansville, Ind., native is honored with his first Big Ten Swimmer of the Week award.

Diver of the Week
David Boudia, Purdue

Boudia smashed Big Ten, Purdue and Boilermaker Aquatic Center pool records in the one- and three-meter dives last Saturday in a 239.5-108.5 win over Eastern Michigan. The freshman’s three-meter mark destroyed the previous conference record by over 47 points as he totaled a 495.30. Boudia’s one-meter grade of 402.45 bested the previous Big Ten score by nearly 14 points. Aside from winning both events and qualifying for the NCAA Zone Diving meet in March, the Noblesville, Ind., native earns his third weekly honor of the season and his second consecutive.
