Marcan was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after going 7-0 and being named the tournament winner at the Boilermaker Invitational over the weekend. Marcan won each singles match in straight sets, knocking off Purdue’s P.J. Rose, 6-3, 6-3; Eastern Kentucky’s Alex Das, 6-2, 6-3; Valparaiso’s Adam Whitmer, 6-1, 6-3; and Western Michigan’s Kazuya Komada, 6-4, 6-2. The freshman then teamed up with Balazs Novak in doubles to knock off teams from Purdue, 8-6, Valparaiso, 8-2, and Western Michigan, 8-3.
