Illinois' Nevolo Named Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Illinois' Dennis Nevolo earns his second Big Ten men's tennis Athlete of the Week award of 2011 and the fifth of his career after helping the 16th-ranked Illini take down No. 12 Kentucky on Friday and No. 7 Florida on Saturday. Nevolo paired with Bruno Abdelnour at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point with an 8-6 win over Kentucky's Alex Musialek and Anthony Rossi. The junior, ranked 11th in the nation in singles, then fell in a narrow 6-3, 6-4 setback to No. 2 Eric Quigley at No. 1 singles, but the Illini remained in front for a 4-3 win over the Wildcats. Nevolo and Abdelnour again helped Illinois clinch the doubles point against Florida, picking up an 8-6 victory against Billy Federhofer and Bob van Overbeek. He then earned a 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-0 win over No. 4 Alexandre Lacroix en route to a 4-3 Illini win.
