Ohio State's Buchanan Tabbed Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week

Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Ohio State's Chase Buchanan picks up his second Big Ten Athlete of the Week honor this season after leading the fourth-ranked Buckeyes to three wins last week. Buchanan and teammate Blaz Rola, the No. 6 doubles pair in the country, defeated No. 44 Stefan Hardy and Zach Hunter of North Carolina, 8-5. Buchanan, ranked 21st in singles, then earned a 7-5, 6-0 win against No. 30 Jose Hernandez to fuel the Buckeyes to a 6-1 win over the 24th-ranked Tar Heels on Tuesday. The pair dropped an 8-4 decision to No. 76 Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia before Buchanan's singles match with No. 22 Carvalho went unfinished in the Buckeyes' 4-1 win over No. 14 Texas Tech in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Friday. Buchanan and Rola then took down No. 2 Ed Corrie and Jean Anderson, 8-5, while Buchanan followed with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Anderson to propel Ohio State to a 4-1 win against No. 5 Texas on Saturday. The duo fell at the hands of Michael Shabaz and Alex Domijan of top-ranked Virginia, 9-7, before Buchanan dropped a close match to second-ranked Domijan in the Buckeyes' 4-1 loss to the Cavaliers in the ITA semifinals.
