Athlete of the Week:
Marek Czerwinski, Illinois
Jr. - Birmingham, Mich. - Marathon High School

Illinois junior Marek Czerwinski went a combined 4-0 over the weekend helping lead the No. 7 Illini to conference wins over No. 44 Northwestern and No. 19 Wisconsin. Ranked No. 101 in singles, Czerwinski started out the weekend with a straight sets win over Northwestern's Alexander Thams, 7-5, 6-2. Against Wisconsin, Czerwinski provided the match clinching win at No. 4 singles with another straight sets victory over the Badgers' Luke Rassow-Kantor, 7-6 (3), 6-3. In doubles, Czerwinski and partner Marc Spicijaric, ranked No. 41, downed the No. 80-ranked Northwestern duo of Alex Sanborn and Josh Graves 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. The next day, the hot hitting duo improved their record to 8-1 on the year defeating Wisconsin's Michael Muskievicz and Michael Dierberger, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles. This is the first weekly award of Czerwinski's career at Illinois.
