Michael James, Penn State
Jr., Clifton, Va./Centreville High School

James earns his second weekly distinction of the season after leading the Nittany Lions to two conference road wins over Iowa and then-No. 29 Minnesota last weekend.

At No. 1 singles against the Hawkeyes, James took out J.P. Ritchie in straight sets after teaming with senior Ryan Berger for an 8-3 defeat of Iowa's top tandem Gregory Holm and Walker Grimes. The PSU duo earned the team's only victory in the doubles competition with a hard-fought, tie-breaker defeat of the Gophers' team of Sion Wilkins and Nich Edlefsen in No. 1 doubles. In singles, the Nittany Lion junior, who is ranked 102nd in the latest ITA National poll, continued his hot streak with a straight-set win over Osario (7-5, 6-3). James fought back from a 5-1 deficit to claim the first set and rolled through the second to clinch the team win for the Gophers. The victory maked his ninth consecutive singles win.

James, who earned his first-career weekly honor on March 14, is now an impressive 24-4 overall and 13-2 in duals this season.
