Minnesota's Wernet Earns Weekly Men's Tennis Honor

Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Minnesota's Tobias Wernet collects Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career after propelling the 24th-ranked Gophers to wins against No. 22 Michigan and No. 53 Michigan State. Wernet and teammate Rok Bonin opened the weekend with an 8-4 win over the Spartans' Aaron Pfister and Ronnie Hulewicz at No. 2 doubles. Wernet followed with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph against Hulewicz at No. 2 singles to help Minnesota to a 4-3 win. Wernet and Bonin picked up another 8-4 victory at No. 2 doubles on Sunday, defeating Michigan's Barrett Franks and Chris Madden. The Gopher senior then earned his second win of the weekend at No. 2 singles, taking down No. 57 Jason Jung, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, in Minnesota's 5-2 win over the Wolverines.
