Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week
Ruben Gonzales, Illinois

Gonzales was a pivotal contributor to Illinois' three dual wins last week going 6-0 on the week in both singles and doubles play.  In doubles play, Gonzales along with partner Marc Spicijaric, went 3-0 at No. 2 for the week.  The winning trend was also evident in Gonzales' singles play as he had three victories at No. 1.  The Terre Haute, Ind., native notched his first singles win of the week over Kentucky's Bruno Agostinelli in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4.  In Big Ten action, the senior took down Penn State's Michael James by scores of 6-1, 6-4.  Then to wrap up the weekend, Gonzales won again in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, over Michigan's Jason Jung.  This is the third weekly honor for Gonzales on the year and fourth of his career.
