Ohio State's Buchanan Picks up Weekly Men's Tennis Laurel

Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Ohio State's Chase Buchanan hauls in his third Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award this season after leading the third-ranked Buckeyes to wins over No. 12 Kentucky, No. 60 Michigan State and No. 23 Michigan last week. Buchanan and Shuhei Uzawa opened the week with an 8-7 win at No. 2 doubles against Kentucky's Alberto Gonzalez and Tom Jomby, the 51st-ranked pair in the country. Buchanan, ranked 14th nationally in singles, then downed 51st-ranked Alex Musialek at No. 2 singles, clinching the 4-3 match in favor of Ohio State. Buchanan and Uzawa earned an 8-7 (11-9) win over the Spartans' Austin Brooks and Aaron Pfister at No. 2 doubles before Buchanan defeated Denis Bogatov, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles to push the Buckeyes to a 7-0 sweep of Michigan State. The Ohio State duo took an 8-2 decision over Michigan's Shaun Bernstein and Barrett Franks at No. 2 doubles, with Buchanan adding a 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 victory over 21st-ranked Evan King at No. 1 singles to lead Ohio State to a 6-1 win against the Wolverines.
