The field is set for the 2009 Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament, slated to take place Thursday-Sunday, April 23-26, at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. Ohio State (10-0, 28-1) claimed the No. 1 seed for the fourth straight season after capturing the Big Ten regular season title. The Buckeyes have recorded 49 consecutive victories against Big Ten opponents and are currently 100-5 in their last 105 conference matches, including postseason play.
Illinois (8-2, 19-7) will look to enter the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 2 seed, while Minnesota (7-3, 17-6) clinched the No. 3 spot. Michigan (6-4, 12-13) edged out Northwestern (6-4, 18-7) for the No. 4 seed as the Wolverines defeated the Wildcats 4-3, during regular season play. Each of the top five teams receives a first-round bye and will start tournament play on Friday, April 24. The tournament begins on Thursday morning with the title match set for Sunday at Noon (ET).
