Sixth seed Indiana upset No. 3 Minnesota in the quarterfinal round of the 2009 Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Varsity Tennis Center in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Hoosiers improve to 15-13 overall as the Gophers end their run for the tournament title with a 18-7 slate.
Meanwhile, second-seed Illinois halted No. 7 Penn State’s advance, downing the Nittany Lions 4-0. With the win, the Illini improve to 20-7 overall as the Nittany Lions fall to 14-13 on the season.
Earlier in the day, top-seed Ohio State defeated No. 8 Wisconsin to advance to Saturday’s third round where they will face No. 4 Michigan in the first semifinal match at approximately 10 a.m. (ET). Illinois and Indiana will square off in the afternoon contest, slated for 2 p.m. (ET).
