Big Ten Reveals 2010 Big Ten Men's Tennis Tournament Bracket

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference office announced on Sunday the seedings and pairings for the 2010 Big Ten Men’s Tennis Tournament set to begin on Thursday at the Indiana University Tennis Center. The Ohio State Buckeyes finished with a perfect 10-0 conference mark and are 29-1 overall to enter as the No. 1 seed after winning its fifth consecutive Big Ten Championship. Ohio State has won 59 straight matches against Big Ten opponents and received a bye into Friday’s quarterfinals.
Illinois is the tournament’s No. 2 seed after finishing the season 9-1 in Big Ten play, 17-9 overall, while No. 3 Michigan (8-2, 12-9) joins Illinois in the bottom half of the bracket. No. 4 Wisconsin (7-3, 18-6) will face No. 5 Minnesota (6-4, 13-9) as the two earned byes into Friday’s quarterfinals.
Three matchups highlight the opening round schedule on Thursday. No. 6 Indiana (5-5, 15-9) will face No. 11 Michigan State (1-9, 13-13) in the third match of the day. No. 8 Penn State (3-7, 15-10) will face No. 9 Northwestern (1-9, 9-14) in the opening match of the tournament on Thursday, and No. 7 Iowa (4-6, 12-9) takes on No. 10 Purdue (1-9, 11-14) in Thursday’s second match.
