Illinois Anderson and Ohio State's Green Share Weekly Honors

Kevin Anderson, Illinois Anderson earns his second-career weekly honor keying Illinois to a regular season-ending two-match sweep of Iowa and Minnesota. Against No. 39 Minnesota, Anderson teamed with Ryan Rowe to better the Gophers' top doubles team of Andres Osario and Sion Wilkins, 8-3, to clinch the doubles point. The No. 6 pair of Anderson and Rowe improved to 14-1 with the win and jumped to the No. 4 spot in the ITA rankings. Also ranked 21st in singles, Anderson prevailed against No. 121 Nic Edlefsen 6-4, 6-7(7), 1-0(7) in a hard-won three sets. On Sunday, Anderson displayed his All-America form in a straight-set victory over Iowa's J.P. Ritchie (6-2, 6-3). The Johannesburg, South America, native improved to 5-1 in the Big Ten and 21-3 overall. This marks the second consecutive Athlete of the Week selection, as Ryler DeHeart garnered the award on April 19. Scott Green, Ohio State After taking over the top spot in the ITA doubles rankings with teammate Ross Wilson, Green helped seventh-ranked Ohio State secure the outright 2006 Big Ten regular season title with victories at No. 1 doubles against Northwestern and Wisconsin. Green teamed with Wilson to fight past an aggressive Wildcat pair. Northwestern's in Adam Schaechterle and Matt Christian stretched it to the tiebreaker, but Green and Wilson responded with an 8-7 (8-6) win. The Buckeyes' top-ranked duo closed out their regular season with an 8-3 victory over Wisconsin's Nolan Polley and Jeremy Sonkin, improving to 21-1 in dual competition this season. The North Canton, Ohio native claims his first-career nod for the weekly award. This marks the fifth honor for an OSU athlete this season.
