Big Ten Men's Tennis Set to Compete in NCAA Championships

Complete Release in PDF Format | Bracket Five Big Ten teams are set to compete in the first and second rounds of the NCAA Men's Tennis Championships this weekend. First-round matches are scheduled for Friday with second-round contests following on Saturday. Entering its conference-leading 20th NCAA Championships, Michigan kicks off first-round action on Friday against Maryland at 10 a.m. ET in Durham, N.C. The winner of the Wolverines-Terrapins match will face either host and No. 11 seed Duke or George Washington at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Indiana will travel to College Station, Texas, on Friday to play LSU at 11 a.m. CT. The Hoosiers are making their sixth tournament appearance and first since 2008. The winner of Friday's match will await the winner of No. 9 Texas A&M and Alcorn State for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday. After receiving its third-straight and 17th overall NCAA Championships berth, Minnesota drew a first-round matchup with Fresno State at 11 a.m. PT on Friday in Berkeley, Calif. The winner will move on to face No. 14 California or Marist at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Big Ten Champion Ohio State enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed and is making its 11th straight championships appearance. The Buckeyes host Ball State at 1 p.m. ET on Friday, with the winner advancing to play Notre Dame or East Tennessee State at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Illinois will also host first- and second-round matches, drawing Drake in the opening round at 3 p.m. CT on Friday after earning its 16th consecutive championships berth. The winner of Friday's match will take on the winner of No. 16 North Carolina and Eastern Kentucky at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Stanford will play host to the rest of the tournament, beginning with third-round matches on May 20 followed by the quarterfinals on May 22. The semifinals will be played on May 23, and the national championship match will take place on May 24, with ESPNU providing television coverage for the final match.
