No. 6 Ohio State def. No. 25 Arkansas, 4-0
Ohio State will face North Carolina in the 2006 NCAA Men's Tennis Team Championships May 20 at Stanford University. The teams will play at noon ET Saturday at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.
The Buckeyes played host to the opening rounds of the team tournament for the first time in school history and finished with a 4-0 victory against Arkansas on Sunday in the second round the event. Ohio State (27-1) tied a school record for wins in a season with its 42nd-consecutive home court win. Ohio State has gone undefeated in Columbus for the last three years after finishing the 2006 campaign 14-0. Ohio State has qualified for the Round of 16 in three of the last four years.
No. 8 Illinois def. No. 27 Louisville, 4-0
Eighth-ranked Illinois upended 27th-ranked Louisville 4-0 in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center and advance to the Sweet 16 for the fifth straight season. The victory improves Illinois' record to 24-6 while the Cardinals conclude their season with a 19-8 mark. The Orange and Blue will travel to Palo Alto, Calif., where they will likely face either No. 10 UCLA or No. 23 Colorado, the two top teams in the Los Angeles region on May 20.
