The No. 3-seed Ohio State men’s tennis team will continue its quest for a national championship after ousting No. 6-seed Baylor, 4-1, Sunday in the quarterfinal round of the 2009 NCAA Championships at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center in College Station, Texas. The Buckeyes garner their first semifinal berth in program history after being eliminated in the quarterfinals in each of the last three seasons.
Ohio State (35-1) continues to build its winning streak, compiling 27-consecutive wins, while improving its NCAA slate to 21-9 in its last 10 seasons. The Buckeyes snap Baylor’s 15-match win streak as the Bears end the 2009 campaign with a 26-6 overall record.
Up next, the Scarlet and Gray will face No. 7 UCLA Monday at 2 p.m. (ET). The Bruins (21-4) upset No. 2 Mississippi Saturday afternoon to advance in the bracket. The second semifinal match will occur simultaneously, as No. 8-seed USC (23-5) takes on No. 12-seed Texas (23-6).
