Illinois and Ohio State Resume NCAA Men's Tennis Championships on Friday

Illinois and Ohio State continue their NCAA Men's Tennis Championships runs on Friday as both teams travel to Athens, Ga., for third-round matches.

No. 16 Illinois faces top-ranked USC at 9 a.m. ET, while fifth-seeded Ohio State matches up with 12th-seeded Florida at Noon. The winner of the Illini and Trojans will meet either Baylor or eighth-seeded Duke in the quarterfinals. The winner of the Buckeyes and Gators will play No. 4 UCLA or No. 13 Ole Miss on Sunday.

Illinois picked up back-to-back wins on its home court to earn a spot in the Round of 16. The Illini defeated Western Michigan, 4-0, in the first round before edging Auburn, 4-3, in the second round. The Round of 16 appearance is Illinois' 10th in the last 11 seasons.

Ohio State also hosted first- and second-round matches, earning two 4-0 victories to advance to the third round. The Buckeyes won their first-round contest against East Tennessee State on Saturday, following with a win over Notre Dame in Sunday's second round. Ohio State is appearing in the Round of 16 for the seventh consecutive season.

The NCAA Championships semifinals will be held on Monday at 5 p.m., followed by the championship match on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
