Illinois and Ohio State Resume NCAA Men's Tennis Championships Action

Illinois and Ohio State continue their NCAA Men's Tennis Championships runs this week as both teams compete in the Round of 16. The Fighting Illini and fourth-seeded Buckeyes travel to Stanford, Calif., for third-round matches on Thursday.
Ohio State faces Tulsa at 3 p.m. PT, while Illinois takes on top-seeded Virginia at 6 p.m. The winner of the Buckeyes and Golden Hurricane will meet either No. 5 Baylor or No. 12 UCLA in the quarterfinals. The winner of the Illini and Cavaliers will play No. 8 Stanford or No. 9 Texas A&M on Saturday.
Illinois picked up back-to-back wins on its home court to earn a spot in the Round of 16. The Illini defeated Drake, 4-0, in the first round before upending No. 16 North Carolina, 4-1, in the second round. The Round of 16 appearance is Illinois' ninth in the last 10 seasons.
Ohio State also hosted first- and second-round matches, earning two 4-0 victories to advance to the third round. The Buckeyes won their first-round contest against Ball State on Friday, following with a win over Notre Dame in Saturday's second round. Ohio State is appearing in the Round of 16 for the sixth consecutive season.
The NCAA Championships semifinals will be held on Monday at Noon, followed by the championship match on Tuesday at Noon. The title contest will be broadcast on ESPNU.
