Ohio State, Wisconsin Face Off in NCAA Championships Round of 16

Complete Release in PDF Format A pair of conference squads will compete in the NCAA Men’s Tennis Championships round of 16, scheduled to begin on Friday, but only one will advance to Sunday’s quarterfinals at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus. Fourth-seeded Ohio State, winner of the Ohio State Regional last weekend, faces Illinois Regional champion Wisconsin at 9 a.m. ET on Friday. The two teams have faced each other twice already this year, once during the conference season and once in the Big Ten Tournament earlier this month. Ohio State won both matches, with the closest match being a 4-3 victory on April 25. The Buckeyes advanced to the round of 16 after wins over Western Michigan and Michigan last weekend at the Ohio State Regional, while the Badgers scored victories against Notre Dame and host Illinois to claim the Illinois Regional. The Ohio State-Wisconsin winner will advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon to face the winner of No. 5 Southern California and No. 12 Kentucky. The championships semifinals will be contested on Monday evening with the national championship match scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, which will be broadcast live by ESPNU.
