Ohio State and Illinois Student-Athletes Advance in Singles and Doubles Bracket of NCAA Championships

The No. 11 ranked duo of senior Ryan Rowe and sophomore Billy Heiser advanced to the Sweet 16 in the 2008 NCAA Doubles Championship in Tulsa, Okla., Thursday evening with a come from behind victory over the No. 12 ranked LSU tandem of James Cluskey and Michael Venus, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4. Earlier in the day, Rowe and fellow senior Ruben Gonzales gave it their all in singles action, but both fell short in the round of 32. Bryan Koniecko, Justin Kronauge and Steven Moneke, members of the Ohio State men's tennis team, remain in contention at the 2008 NCAA Singles Championship after winning their round of 32 matches Thursday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. Two Buckeye tandems were victorious in their debut in the NCAA doubles championship to advance to the round of 16. The duo of Koniecko and Moneke won its opening-round match, while Kronauge and Drew Eberly posted a come-from-behind win to move on in the bracket.
