Ohio State's Rola Wins NCAA Singles Championship

Ohio State's Blaz Rola took home the NCAA Singles Championship on Monday at the Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill. The Buckeye took down Virginia's Jarmere Jenkins (7-6 , 6-4) to claim the title.

The NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships are underway in Urbana, Ill. Five singles players and three doubles pairs from the conference will compete in the national tournament, with singles action beginning today and doubles play commencing on Thursday.
After earning a top-16 seed, Michigan’s Evan King opened the singles tournament for the conference contingent defeating Georgia’s Nathan Pasha (6-2, 6-2) to advance to the second round where he will face Elon’s Cameron Silverman. Also a top-16 seed, Ohio State’s Blaz Rola’s match against California’s Ben McLachlan is underway.
At 2:30 p.m., the Buckeyes' No. 7 seed Peter Kobelt takes on Fred Saba of Duke and Minnesota’s Rok Bonin competes against Mitchell Frank of Virginia. Illinois’ Jared Hiltzik squares off against UCLA’s Adrien Pugent on his home court at 5 p.m.
On the doubles side, Kobelt and Connor Smith take on Duke’s No. 2 seed Henrique Cunha and Raphael Hemmeler, while Illinois' Ross Guignon and Tim Kopinski match up against Virginia’s No. 4 seed Jarmere Jenkins and Mac Styslinger. Indiana’s duo of Isade Juneau and Sam Monette face Ole Miss’ No. 3 seed Jonas Lutjen and Nik Scholtz.
