Three Big Ten Men's Singles Players Advance to Round of 16

Three Big Ten men's tennis players moved on to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Singles Championship after wins in Thursday's second round. Illinois' Dennis Nevolo and Ohio State's Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola will each compete in third-round matches on Thursday.

Nevolo defeated Ole Miss' Marcel Thiemann, 6-4, 7-6 (6), on Thursday and will face Rola, who defeated USC's Emilio Gomez, 7-6 (5), 6-3 at 11 a.m. CT. Buchanan took down Georgia Tech's Kevin King, 6-2, 6-4, and will face Stanford's Bradley Klahn at 11 a.m. on Friday. 

On the doubles side, Buchanan and Rola took down North Carolina's Joey Burkhardt and Jose Hernandez (7-6 (3), 7-6 (4)) and will take on Nevolo and Roy Kalmanovich, whom tooked down Mississippi State's George Coupland and Artem Ilyushin, 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 on Friday. Nebraska's Christopher Aumueller and Benedikt Lindheim fell to Virginia's Drew Courtney and Jarmere Jenkins (6-1, 6-4), while Penn State Russell Bader and Jason Lee lost to Oklahoma's Costin Paval and Dane Webb (3-6, 7-5, 6-1).

Third-round singles matches begin at 11 a.m., while second round doubles matches take place at 1 p.m.
