One conference singles player and three doubles teams remain in their respective draws following Thursday's action at the NCAA Tennis Championships. Ohio State's Chase Buchanan won his second match of the NCAA Singles Championships on Thursday, moving to the round of 16 on Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the University of Georgia campus. In doubles, teams from Illinois, Michigan and Ohio State advanced to Friday's round of 16. The Buckeye sophomore, seeded seventh in the singles draw, defeated Vanderbilt's Ryan Lipman, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 on Thursday. Buchanan moves on to Friday's round of 16, where he will face Virginia's Michael Shabaz, who is seeded 11th. Shabaz defeated Michigan's Jason Jung in the first round of the tournament on Wednesday. In the Doubles Championships, the Michigan pair of Jung and Evan King moved to the round of 16 after the two knocked off Raony Carvalho and Rafael Garcia of Texas Tech, 7-6, 7-6. The Wolverine duo will face the Stanford team of Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher on Friday. The Illinois duo of Marek Czerwinski and Dennis Nevolo needed three sets, but ultimately earned a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 win over Ole Miss' Christoph and Marcel Thiemann. The Illini pair was down 5-3 in the final set, but rallied to win the next four games and advanced to face Virginia's Drew Courtney and Shabaz on Friday. Buchanan had enough time to recover from his win in singles earlier in the day to join teammate Dino Marcan in the doubles draw. The Ohio State tandem defeated Tim Puetz and Alexander Stamchev of Auburn, 7-5, 6-3 on Thursday and will face the Wake Forest team of Iain Atkinson and Steven Forman in the round of 16. Three conference standouts saw their singles championships come to an end Thursday. Illinois' Nevolo fell to Kentucky's Eric Quigley, 6-3, 6-2, Ohio State's Justin Kronauge dropped a 6-4, 6-2 decision to Oklahoma State's Oleksandr Nedoyesov, and Wisconsin's Marek Michalicka lost to Baylor's Denes Lukacs, 6-2, 6-3.
