Iowa's Beirich Wins Big Ten Singles Championship

Play at the Big Ten Singles Championship concluded on Monday, Nov. 3 with Iowa's Christian Beirich taking home top honors.  The senior faced Minnesota's Sebastian Gallego in the championship finals defeating the Gopher student-athlete 6-3, 6-4.  Beirich lost only one set throughout his six victories in the event and becomes the first Hawkeye to win the title since Tyler Cleveland in fall of 2000.

Michigan's George Navas won the finals in the consolation bracket, defeating Minnesota's Julian Dehn in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

The championship match will be shown on the Big Ten Network as a tape delay on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 4 p.m. (CT).
