Minnesota Garners First Weekly Award of 2011

The conference office announced on Wednesday the first weekly men's outdoor track and field award for the 2011 season. Minnesota's Micah Hegerle earns the nod as Field Athlete of the Week. Track Athlete of the Week: *No selection* Field Athlete of the Week: Sophomore Micah Hegerle began the outdoor campaign by placing second overall and as the top collegian in the hammer throw with a career-best distance of 212-9 as the Gophers traveled to Arizona State for the Baldy Invitational last weekend. With the throw, the Dodge Center, Minn., native improved upon his previous career best, which ranked second in Gopher history.
