Badgers Earn First Weekly Awards of 2009 Outdoor Track Season

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week Pat Plank, Wisconsin In his first collegiate outdoor meet, Plank recorded two event wins at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird meet. The freshman posted a winning time in the 400-meter hurdles of 54.13. To close the meet, Plank ran a leg of the Badger’s 4x400-meter relay which broke the tape at 3:18.45. Plank takes home his first Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week award. Last Wisconsin Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week: Brandon Bethke (4/29/08) Men’s Field Athlete of the Week Robert Dehn, Wisconsin Dehn opened his 2009 outdoor campaign with a strong showing in the javelin. The sophomore posted a throw of 206 feet (62.79m.) which topped all competitors at the Rose-Hulman Early Bird meet. His mark also becomes the fourth-best toss in school history and qualifies him for the Mideast Regional meet at the end of May. Last Wisconsin Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week: Paul Hubbard (5/8/07)
