Penn State and Minnesota Earn Conference Recognition

The conference office announced on Wednesday the weekly men's outdoor track and field awards. Penn State's Casimir Loxsom received Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week accolades, while Minnesota's Ben Peterson earns the nod as Field Athlete of the Week.
Track Athlete of the Week:
Penn State's Casimir Loxsom recorded a personal-best and conference-leading performance to win the 800-meter run last weekend at the Jesse Owens Classic. Loxsom set a new Jesse Owens Stadium record in a time of 1:46.45 to better the rest of the field by nearly two seconds. The sophomore's time now ranks third in the country so far this season, second in Penn State history and ninth in the world this year. This marks Loxsom's third career weekly award.

Field Athlete of the Week:
Minnesota's Ben Peterson took home first-place in the pole vault last weekend at the LSU Alumni Gold Invitational in Baton Rouge, La. The senior recorded a season-best height of 17-7 3/4, which currently leads the Big Ten and ranks tied for fifth in the country so far this season. This marks Peterson's second career weekly award and third for the Gophers this season.
