Jones has been named Athlete of the Week after recording a season-best 50.37 in the 400-meter hurdles special division at the Drake Relays last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa. The senior, who denied Adidas' John Woody of his fourth individual title in five years, notched a regional qualifying mark as his time beat the standard by 2.14 seconds and tallied the fourth Drake Relays title of his career. He went on to help the Illini 4x200-meter relay squad run a season-best 1:223.82, good enough for second place. Jones and the Illinois sprint medley relay team wrapped up the weekend with a second-place finish, crossing the line in 9:02.47. This is the first weekly accolade of Jones' career.
