Penn State and Ohio State Garner Weekly Track and Field Awards

Track Athlete of the Week: Penn State's Ryan Foster collected a first and second-place finish in the sprint medley and 4x800 medley relay respectively last weekend at the Penn Relays. Foster anchored the winning sprint medley relay, finishing in a school-record time of 3:17.10. The title was the team's first Penn Relays victory since 1987 and first in the sprint medley since 1942. Foster also ran the third leg on the Nittany Lions' runner-up 4x800-meter relay team, which clocked a time of 7:12.90, good for second in the Penn State records book and second-fastest time in the nation so far this season. Last Penn State Track Athlete of the Week: Casimir Loxsom (April 27, 2011) Field Athlete of the Week: Ohio State's Michael Hartfield took home runner-up in the long jump last weekend at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. The junior used a personal best mark of 7.95 meters to take second place, making it the fifth-best in Division I this season and in Ohio State outdoor history. The long jump performance also leads the Big Ten this season. The Manchester, Conn., native also turned in a top-five finish in the triple jump with a mark of 15.24 meters, which ranks fifth in the Big Ten.
