Big Ten Set for NCAA Preliminary Track & Field Championships
May 24, 2012 Big Ten men's and women's outdoor track and field competes in the 2012 NCAA Preliminary Championships this week, scheduled for May 24-26. All 11 conference teams compete in the preliminary rounds as six teams travel to Jacksonville, Fla., for the East Preliminary and five teams visit Austin, Texas, for the West Preliminary. Forty-eight individuals and 24 relay teams will compete in each event. The top 12 individuals and relay teams from each preliminary will advance to the NCAA Championships, which will be held June 6-9 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa. North Florida hosts the East Preliminary with Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue traveling to Jacksonville. Texas plays host to the West Preliminary with Illinios, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and Wisconsin competing in Austin.
