Action Concludes at the 2009 NCAA Track and Field Championships

The 2009 collegiate track and field season ended today with the final events at the NCAA Championships.  Big Ten student-athletes brought home loads of hardware, including three gold medals.  Michigan's Geena Gall won the 800-meter run for the second consecutive season in a blistering time of 2:00.80 while teammate Tiffany Ofili captured her third consecutive NCAA title in the 100-meter hurdles, breaking the tape in 12.96.  The Wolverine women finished seventh overall with 28 points, highest among all conference programs.  Illinois' Angela Bizzarri dominated the 5,000 meters, winning the race by nearly nine seconds.  Her Illini squad finished the meet in 12th place with 18 points.
