Through Monday, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference’s Jesse Owens Male and Suzy Favor Female Athlete of the Year Awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced live on BTN’s season-ending awards show on Monday at 6:30 p.m. CT.
Andrew Riley – Illinois – Track and Field
Riley completed an historic senior season with the Illini, winning two NCAA titles to make him a four-time NCAA Champion, which ties for the most ever in program history. He was an 11-time NCAA first-team All-American and 11-time Big Ten Champion as he set five school records, one Big Ten all-time record and two Big Ten meet records. The senior won both the 100 meter dash and 110 meter hurdles championships at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships, making him the first male in the NCAA to ever win both events in one year, en route to winning USTFCCCA National Track Athlete of the Year.
