Through today, the Big Ten will highlight each of the 24 student-athletes nominated for the conference's Athlete of the Year awards. Award winners are voted on by a pre-selected media panel and will be announced on Wednesday.
Derek Drouin - Indiana - Track & Field
Drouin became the first Big Ten student-athlete to be named National Field Athlete of the Year, and is just the second athlete in NCAA history to collect the award for both the indoor and outdoor seasons in the same year. The Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year won both the indoor and outdoor high jump title, becoming the first person in NCAA history to win the high jump crown five times. Drouin is a Bowerman Trophy Semifinalist, first-team All-American and first-team All-Big Ten selection. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 Olympic Games, becoming the first male Canadian to earn a track and field medal since 1996. Click HERE for more information on Derek.
