2011-12 Big Ten Men's Indoor Track and Field Season Set to Begin

PARK RIDGE, Ill. – The 2011-12 season of indoor track and field is set to begin this weekend with Indiana and Ohio State taking to the track. On Friday, Indiana hosts the Hoosier Open, while Ohio State travels to Kent, Ohio, for the Kent State Early Bird meet, a two-day event with action resuming on Saturday.

The remaining Big Ten teams will open their indoor campaigns in 2012. On Jan. 7, Penn State hosts the Penn State Relays, while Purdue hosts the Purdue Invitational. Minnesota begins its season on Jan. 8, when it hosts the Northwest Open.

The following weekend marks the start of the season for the remainder of the conference. From Jan. 13-14, Nebraska hosts the Holiday Inn Invitational, while Wisconsin hosts the Badger Track Classic.

Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Michigan State begin their seasons on Jan. 14. The Fighting Illini welcome the Hawkeyes to the Illini Open, the Buckeyes travel to Ann Arbor to face the Wolverines, and the Spartans visit Allendale, Mich., for the Grand Valley State University Bob Eubanks Open.
